Update - Spring 2024 - Data Quality & Record Labels!

That’s the focus for the next few months, and I begin this update with some good news re a jazz record label in particular - Criss Cross Jazz. With the help of Wytze van der Raay, The Liner Notes Project Project now has accurate, *VERIFIED* credits for over 400 albums in the Criss Cross Jazz catalog, featuring recordings by the likes of Chet Baker, Clifford Jordan, Slide Hampton, Benny Green, Keyon Harrold, Eric Alexander, Wycliffe Gordon, and others.

The status of “Verified” is important, as it means that either the album’s credits came directly from an authoritative source (in this case, the record label directly) or they were manually reviewed and validated from original source material. When looking at an album’s details, you can click the Info icon and see a dialog box which provides basic summary information for the album’s credits (# of tracks, players, credits, etc.). Additionally, there is a footnote indicating a unique album id, the date it was last updated, and the album’s status. This status will be either “Verified” or “Pending Verification."

My goal has always been to present the most accurate credits possible, and to do that end, I continue to seek out opportunities to partner with record labels directly. Please contact me at steven.lieblich@4jems.com if you would like to pursue this further. And thanks again to Wytze and Criss Cross Jazz for helping pioneer this effort.
